Vivere a
zero rifiuti può essere un obiettivo perseguibile. Tra le perplessità più frequenti in merito all'adozione di un
no waste lifestyle, c'è sicuramente la paura che costi troppa fatica in un momento storico davvero faticoso di per sé. Ma, in realtà, non è così se si agisce consapevolmente.
Usare "gli scarti", infatti, può riservare numerose e poacevoli sorprese. Pensiamo, per esempio, alle ricette che hanno come ingredienti scarti di cibi (per esempio, le bucce della verdura o la polpa restante della spremuta di arancia). Ma non solo, ci sono aziende virtuose che usano
gli scarti di materie prime vegetali anche per produrre in modo ecologico e sostenibile.
Greencat è una di quelle. Infatti, abbiamo deciso di usare solo ciò che viene definito "scarto" dell'orzo per produrre una lettiera che sia 100% vegetale, 100% biodegradabile (quindi zero waste) ma super performante (agglomera benissimo, non puzza e ha una grana perfetta). Le parti non edibili dell'orzo, ciò che resta dalla lavorazione del cereale e che
non è destinato all'alimentazione, vengono lavorate a breve distanza dalla raccolta. E trasportate sul luogo della lavorazione attraverso l'utilizzo di chiatte.
Qui, al Consorzio Agrario di Cremona, gli "scarti" dell'orzo vengono lavorati attraverso tecnologie in costante evoluzione e vengono aggiunti al tutto soltanto lieviti naturali (in piccolissima percentuale). Il risultato? La lettiera per gatti veramente ecologica, comoda, adorata da micio e dagli umani.

Living with zero waste can be an achievable goal. Among the most frequent perplexities regarding the adoption of a no waste lifestyle, there is certainly the fear that it costs too much effort in a truly tiring historical moment in itself. But, in reality, this is not the case if you act consciously. In fact, using "leftovers" can reserve numerous and pleasant surprises.
Think, for example, of recipes that have food scraps as ingredients (for example, the peel of vegetables or the remaining pulp of orange juice). But not only that, there are virtuous companies that use the waste of vegetable raw materials also to produce in an ecological and sustainable way.
Greencat is one of them. In fact, we have decided to use only what is called barley "waste" to produce a litter that is 100% vegetable, 100% biodegradable (therefore zero waste) but super performing (it agglomerates very well, does not smell and has a perfect grain) . The non-edible parts of the barley, what remains from the processing of the cereal and which is not intended for food, are processed a short distance from the harvest. And transported to the place of processing through the use of barges.
Here, at the Agricultural Consortium of Cremona, the barley "waste" is processed using constantly evolving technologies and only natural yeasts are added to the whole (in a very small percentage). The result? The truly ecological, comfortable cat litter loved by cats and humans.
