A volte il problema è proprio la lettiera. Infatti, i gatti detestano sia consistenze scomode sia alcune caratteristiche apprezzate invece dagli umani. Innanzitutto, la grana non deve essere né troppo sottile (polverosa) né troppo grossa. La seconda sarebbe scomoda, la prima invece si attaccherebbe alle zampe di micio e risulterebbe molto fastidiosa.
